Linda has been painting unique Arizona landscapes since 1992. She works primarily in watercolors but enjoys experimenting with oils, pastels and acrylics. She has studied with such nationally acclaimed artists as Tom Lynch and Skip Lawrence. After retiring from teaching her goal became portraying the beauty of the land and life around her. She is fascinated by the interplay of abstraction and realism within a painting.
Her childhood experiences while exploring the countryside on horseback and later adventures running the roads and trails of Flagstaff have inspired her landscapes and western scenes. Her work is displayed at the Piano and Clock Fine Art Gallery in Flagstaff, Continental Country Club, and the Sedona Arts Center.
What Linda found herself attracted to in her western environment was the strong contrasts between light and shadow. Not surprisingly, her paintings have a western flair and are well sprinkled with horses, cattle and cowboys. Her art reflects her environment. Her watercolors are quite effective in portraying the atmospheric lighting of Northern Arizona.
