My name is Janet Alvillar and I have been doing glass mosaic for about 6 years. I create pictures of various sizes and I do mosaic on glass plates. All my pieces are made with hand cut glass glued to an MDF base or glass base and grouted. I dye my own grout on a lot of the pieces when I want an unusual color. I use many types and textures of glass, beads, metal, mirror, jewels and stones.

I am self taught and have only been bringing my art public since last Sept. I started with the Coconino Fair in 2010 as a first and received 3 awards out of the four submissions. I participated in the “its Elemental” fine craft fair in Dec 2010 and did very well there. I have a shop on Etsy and have had quite a few sales. I am a national finalist in the Etsy/NASA art contest in which the final judging is scheduled for March 18, 2011 in New York City. I am a member if the Flagstaff Artist Coalition and have four pieces  displayed in their gallery till March.
